SEPA Past President
Patsy WilsonPlanetarium Educator/Director
Margaret C. Woodson Planetarium
Horizons Unlimited
Salisbury, NC
Birth date: October 27, 1951
My first job after college was as a classroom teacher for 5th and 6th grade. I did that for 7 years and then spent the next 11 years raising two daughters. In 1993, I returned to education full-time as the coordinator of health science programming at Horizons Unlimited, a science, nature, and history center owned and operated by the Rowan-Salisbury Schools. After a short time, I began to teach some of the space science classes in the planetarium and in 1995 became the sole educator in the Woodson Planetarium.
My responsibilities range from teaching to troubleshooting; from programming to implementing upgrades; from coordinating regional Science Fair to directing the RSS trip to Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama and much, much more!
I've been a SEPA member since 1994 and just completed a term as President. I will serve on the SEPA council for two more years as Past President. I'm also a founding member of CAPE, Carolinas Association of Planetarium Educators. In December, 2006, I earned National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification.
